After leaving the Flux exhibition on Friday evening heading to Birmingham this time for TPS 2019. This time I was invited by The Mac Group to come along and speak to people about photography and how I use my Benro tripod and bullhead in the studio. For me to be on a trade stand was something new but I enjoyed it since it was so unlike giving demos and public speaking.
The guy’s at Benro really know how to treat people and I quickly found myself sat down to an evening meal after the long trip. It was great to catch up with the team of familiar faces that within two minutes of sitting down I was the brunt of most jokes. I love this and it makes me feel part of the team and part of me wishes it could be more frequent. After the meal we all headed to our rooms ready for the early start of day 1 which was the Saturday.
Upon arrival I noticed that the stand with Benro and Tenba among others was an amazing build by the team head by Mark Hoskins. I was keen to get going and after a coffee blast the doors were opened and the incoming rush made the day go by so quickly. I met up with friends old and new and along the way helped some make up their mind to go for tripods that suited their work. After laughing my way through the first day we headed out for a meal and a few drinks and this was the pattern for the next four days.
The one thing I did not prepare for was the exhaustion of it and by the time I got to the last day on
Being involved in this capacity allowed me to look at things differently and the one thing I would do from a customer point is to plan a few days there based around the talks and demos you’d love to see. There is so much happening that sometimes you get nothing done by trying to see everything…..plan it!
